The class began with a hands-on Physics experiment exploring the behavior of light under different conditions. Using a laser pointer, glass frames, and coloured water in a beaker, the children observed how light reflects when it strikes a smooth and shiny surface at varying angles, and how its path bends, or refracts, as it travels from a rarer medium to a denser one, and vice versa. This practical demonstration helped the children visualize abstract optical principles in a tangible, easy-to-understand manner, making the concepts of reflection and refraction come alive through direct observation.



Following the Physics session, the class moved outdoors, where the children set out to collect papaya leaves along with several other varieties of leaves from different plants. This outdoor activity encouraged the children to engage directly with nature while gathering material for further academic exploration.

The collected leaves were then put to use in the mathematics class, where they served as natural specimens for studying symmetry and ratios. By closely examining the leaves, the children were able to identify patterns of symmetry occurring naturally in their structure, as well as explore mathematical ratios present in their shapes and vein arrangements. This exercise offered a wonderful opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom mathematics and the natural world, allowing the children to see firsthand how mathematical principles are not confined to textbooks but are inherently present in the environment around them. Through this integration of outdoor exploration and mathematical analysis, the children gained a richer, more holistic understanding of both nature and numbers.
