Kankinara Faculty Training Report (6th September, 2026)

Week 20 of the Hundred Miles Project marked the programme's final assessment, drawing together twenty weeks of growth across Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Literacy, alongside a hands-on session revisiting the dul stitch and French knot. In the Literacy module, participants read a passage contrasting where they started, reading only a few words and never having searched online, with where they now stand, reading full stories and using their phones confidently to find information and communicate; learners then wrote an extended, full-page reflection on their journey through the programme, noting what had changed and what still remained to be worked on.

The Numeracy section turned analytical, asking learners to calculate point and percentage improvement in assessment scores over the twenty weeks, compare two participants' progress in absolute and percentage terms, and interpret a small table of scores across several checkpoints to identify the most consistent improver. Digital Literacy closed with a comprehensive demonstration of accumulated skills, as learners moved through unlocking their phone, messaging, and searching in one sequence, summarised the digital skill they were proudest of, named an app they now use regularly that was unfamiliar to them at the start, and reflected in writing on their full digital journey. In the hands-on session, learners returned to the dul stitch and French knot, consolidating both techniques as the final piece of stitching practice for the programme. The pairing of a reflective final assessment with revision of earlier stitch work gave the session a fitting sense of closure, with learners visibly able to see how far they had come across all three strands of the programme.
