Register nowMOEMS (Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools) is a widely recognised international math contest for young problem solvers. More than 120,000 students from the United States and 39 other countries participate in this contest each year.
Unlike a one-day competition, MOEMS takes place through five monthly Olympiads from November to March. The contest encourages students to think differently, try new ideas, and find smarter ways to solve challenging problems.
Founded by Dr. George Lenchner in 1977, MOEMS is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organisation.
MOEMS isn't a single sitting. It's a different kind of competition altogether.
It is a five-month competition, not a single exam.
Students compete individually but also contribute to a team.
It works as both a competition and a year-long problem-solving program.
The questions focus on non-routine mathematical problem solving, rather than routine calculation.
MOEMS offers two divisions so every student competes at the right level.
Grades 4, 5 and 6
Designed for upper primary school students, this division introduces foundational contest math concepts in an accessible, encouraging format. Up to 35 students per team.
Grades 6, 7 and 8
Designed for middle school students, this division builds on elementary skills with more challenging problems requiring creative mathematical thinking. Up to 35 students per team.
Students must meet grade-level requirements for their chosen division.

Grade 6 students may be enrolled in either division.
Every participant receives a certificate. Further awards are given at both the individual and the team level.
Institute teams are not eligible for team awards.

The final window closes in March.
For a group of 30–35 students, the total fee is approximately $240 (around ₹22,700).
This amount will be shared equally among the participating students. The final fee per student will depend on the total number of participants.
